Zoo is one of the finest in egypt

The Giza Zoo is one of the finest in EGYPT and the world and the most densely populated of different animal and plant species. Its area is about 80 feddans . It is located near the west bank of the Nile . Its northern tip dominates Cairo University . It is not far from downtown Cairo and is bound to it by many buses . The zoo is under the Ministry of Agriculture in Egypt.

 Khediwe Ismail (1863-1879) , the master of Egypt , was the first to think of the opening of the Zoo , on the occasion of the inauguration



of the Suez Canal in 1869, but he could not do for the lack of sufficient time. 
 On March 1.1891 , the Giza Zoo was opened to the public. It is distinguished by its rare plants imported walks are paved with colored pebbles in beautiful mosaic pictures , streams , lakes , bridges and mountain habitats for different animals it houses. These mountainous areas are planted with trees and cactus fruits especially rare cactus. Moderate climate of Egypt has helped to preserve the life of animals from different regions, without the use of air conditioning for cooling or heating .

The zoo is considered a huge exhibition of African wildlife. It is a habitat for many animals and birds that are now extinct in Egypt species. They must be restored to their original environment from which they were extinct. Among them are mountain goats and rams, Egyptian gazelles and heron .

The zoo in egypt has five mountain areas , the largest called the Citadel was built in 1867. It is decorated with statues of rhino extinct Fayoum , crocodiles and strangebirds. Its top is covered with a small park that could be reached via a spiral path . It includes walks vegetated , a number of rivers , living in the center as a place of rest and various statues of birds and reptiles cement and pebbles. The flow of cash through the caves with coral reefs white pendants, cascades that lead to a lake with two islands connected by a wooden bridge . In front of the home of lions, there are two artificial hills connected with a bridge suspended iron rare only in Egypt.

In addition to the many animals in the garden, there is a museum that was built in 1906. It consists of three large rooms with large groups of Egyptian and foreign embalmed birds , reptiles , fish and animals and skeletons . There are also two other rooms with different types of animals , reptiles and birds. An embalming facility is located behind the museum for such purposes.

The zoo is also an institute where scientists are studying the behavior of animals and birds. There are five non-governmental organizations engaged in campaigns to encourage people to conserve wildlife and to promote environmental awarenessin Egypt.
